"He Never Left Me"

A Personal Testimony of God's Love, Mercy and Peace

Let’s Talk

Hello again Michelle.  I want to thank you for sharing your testimony on our website. When I first heard you give your testimony at The Life Center Family Worship, I knew that your story would be a blessing to others. I am excited and honored to introduce you and your ministry goals to our audience. So Let’s Talk!

Where are you from? Tell us about your family.

Michelle

I am from Allentown, PA and attended William Allen High School. I have been separated for nine years and am the mother of six children; four living and two deceased. In 1994, I loss a baby in pregnancy and in 2011 my 19 year old son committed suicide. I come from a divided family of six siblings; I was raised with my mother and two sisters and my father had children giving me step siblings of two sisters and two brothers. Both of my parents were strong willed Catholics. My mother is loving, loyal and believes in a greater fight. My father was caring, determined and hard working but unfortunately not a consistent part of my life. My baby sister Melissa Ortiz has shown me in the midst of my turmoil and pain that there will always be a better tomorrow.  Her strength and loyalty as my best friend (and sister) helped me in so many ways to stay positive when I was living negatively. My older sister Lourdes Ortiz held everything down when I was MIA (missing in action). She doesn't know the positive impact she's had on me because she was the responsible one who was there for my mother when I couldn't be. Ileana Colon, my 27 year old daughter influences me by her strength. Her love is unconditional for me and for her three children.

Let's Talk!

I am sorry for you loss and in awe of you endurance. I can see that you come from a strong foundation which is especially important when life gets tough.  You look entirely too young to be a grandmother. Can we talk a little about your spiritual influences?

Michelle

I have a Catholic spiritual mother who has been helping me in my spiritual walk since 2002. A lot of what I learned about the Word of God has been because of her. Daisy Thomas from Master’s Touch Prison Ministry bought the Word of God to Lehigh County Prison where I was once incarcerated. She was the spiritual mother to Marilyn Maldonado who in turn became a spiritual mother to me. Marilyn is a source of guidance and support. I can still call her for anything, especially prayer and advice. Another spiritual influence has been Rev. Dr. Alma Colon. She is from Born Again Christian Ministry and is my mentor. She is a woman of God who takes her time to teach and talk about the Word of God in a way I can relate to.  We shared similar stories which gave me hope because she showed me that by keeping God’s Word active in my life, I will be strengthened. She feeds me the spiritual food that helps me grow in my spiritual walk with the Lord.

Let’s Talk!

It’s amazing how merciful God is and how he will meet us exactly where we are in our lives. Even while in prison, God showed His love for you and I am personally grateful for the obedience of Daisy Thomas and Dr. Alma for being such good disciples. There is also nothing like praying parents! Glory to God. Let’s Talk about the struggles that lead to the powerful testimony you are sharing… When did you know you needed God?

Michelle

I grew up in the projects –Little Lehigh in Allentown before moving to the suburbs where I was a straight ‘A’ student. By the time I turned 14, my life was unrecognizable. I failed school with straight ‘F’s’, I had low self-esteem and started taking drugs. I was living like a wild child, quit school and was sent to job corps. I quit that, moved to Puerto Rico and endured more sadness and pain. I conceived my first child there, left her father and returned to the states. I returned to the life I tried to leave behind me and continued on a destructive path. Then In 2002, due to my incarceration my children was taken away from me. A man of God from City Limits Assembly of God named Pastor Jim Rivera shared Christ with me.

Let’s Talk

14 is such a young age. It’s a very impressionable time in a young person’s life who or what was motivating you at that time?

Michelle

I would see women with a certain life-style and I wanted to be just like them. I wanted that fast lifestyle, filled with diamonds, gold furs, cars, big houses, beautiful clothes, pretty bodies and money. I wanted all that and was willing to get all that at any cost. I watched other women and saw all they had but I never knew the price that had to be paid would be so severe and painful!

Let’s Talk!

Wow!  Your testimony gives me chills because I’m immediately thinking about the young people, especially the young women of this contemporary culture that want the same things; they also desire the fast lifestyle but without considering the cost. Satan is so deceptive and cunning…a large part of his trickery is imparting a spirit of confusion. Christ is truly the only answer.

Michelle

I was raised Catholic and ventured out to Pentecostal, Baptist, Muslim, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, Lutheran, Israelite, and even witchcraft. I wanted to learn what God was all about, why so many religions existed and if they could fill the emptiness and void in my life. Everything left me the same after facing death 14 times and being pronounced dead 7 of those times to come back. I knew on November 25, 2014 I had a big purpose and God definitely had a plan. I was homeless, living in a rundown house with rodents and bugs all around me, hungry and begging for food in a town where these things was common. I was neglected, rejected, abandoned, abused, confused and broken. That was when I surrendered all to Him in my pain, sorrow and anguish. I knew it was time.

Let’s Talk!

When we talk about finding God and developing a relationship with Him, this is it. God’s mercy and love on your life when you were at your lowest exemplifies His love and grace. You were looking for God and He was waiting for you. This is a beautiful love story and amazing journey- you’re coming to Christ.

Michelle

I first came to Christ in 1997. I saw His angels greet me and felt His presence. In the summer of ’97, a longtime friend asked me if I accepted Jesus and the look on my face was priceless because I was going to church and never was asked personally if I accepted Jesus. I would go to church then out of respect because I was dating a Pastor’s son.  That summer I saw the room fill up with angels and they all approached me welcoming me to the family. This is an experience I always smile and tear about. I was in awe and amazement and until this day, I am forever grateful.

Let’s Talk!

Before we get in to sharing your projects, can you share a little about how you maintain your spiritual growth?

Michelle

I maintain by reading the Bible, listening to gospel music, talking to other believers, studying and most of all talking to God directly. My all-time favorite evangelist is Juanita Bynum.  It is important to be able to tell my God given story and telling them all what He has taken me out of and the blessings that come from being obedient to Him. The Devil comes to kill, steal and destroy but Jesus came to restore, heal and give us peace, love, mercy and grace. It’s about relationship not a religion to me today.

Let’s Talk!

This is some powerful stuff Michelle. I am so grateful for your obedience to share this. What advice would you give someone who like youself struggled to find their place, purpose, and develop a relationship with God?

Michelle

No matter the circumstance there is peace beyond understanding for your hurting, painful heart when you call out to Him. When you call upon His name, He hears you and really cares. Let Him love you as you deserve; let Him hug you and wrap His arms around you. The difference in my life today is that I can feel Him, hear Him and see him. 10 years ago I was dead walking amongst the dead. 5 years ago I was living amongst the dead not knowing God was working in me preparing for what is still to come.  My faith grows more and more. I am a testimony.  Trials and tribulations give me the strength and lessons to become the woman of God I am today. My faith is where it should be at the place God has me. I believe in Him 100%. I don’t doubt what He can do…I am living proof.

Let’s Talk!

Let’s Talk about how God is moving through you and your ministry goals-

Michelle

I see myself evangelizing to the nations around the world. I want an apartment building for abused, drug free women who has just been released from prison to get a second chance in society or who just needs love and guidance to counsel them spiritually. I want to be that motherly friend or sister to help the less fortunate. I want to help homeless women, rape victims, mothers who have their children taken away from them, drug addicts and mothers who deal with children who are suicidal. My home would be called Heaven’s Angels

Let’s Talk!

You certainly sound angelic Michelle and my prayers are that God will work through you and make every provision for your ministry to be brought to fruition to His glory!

Let’s Talk!

Do you have a favorite scripture or inspiration you’d like to share?

Michelle

I love Acts 12:7 and the quote, “Quick, get up!” Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell.  He struck Peter on the side and woke him up, “Quick Get Up!” he said and the chains fell off his wrist

Let’s Talk!

What would you like to leave our readers with…what do you hope they learn and take away for your time with me today?

Michelle

At an early age I experienced domestic violence, drugs and alcohol, rape and losing my virginity at 14, being sold for drugs to bikers, using crack cocaine, not knowing my father, hating men and becoming a lesbian, having my children taken away, and losing a son to suicide. I had no values or morals living a lifestyle that cause me so much pain. You see, God was always with me. I am a true disciple of Christ and a true woman of God. I fall short, I am not perfect.  When I confessed and bowed down to Him and totally surrendered is when I found Him.

Let’s Talk!

Glory to God. Hallelujah!

Michelle

His arms are wide open. I found Him! I am His chosen one. I am His child and He NEVER left me or forsaken me. He shows me true love. He forgives me for being a sinner. I fail Him every day and He still loves and forgives me. I don't know how to live without Him. He has transformed me in so many ways. He is not done, I’m a work in progress. I allow Him to do His will and every day I ask Him for guidance, peace and mercy. I am grateful to be able to say today I am His child; I love Him and He loves me, no matter what! There is hope beyond understanding. Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I am forever in your debt.

Let’s Talk!

And we thank you Michelle for your openness, candor and transparency. You have given me hope this day and I am certain that any set of eyes reading this interview will further be blessed by you and your journey. I look forward to building our relationship and pray that you will come back and continue to share all God is doing in your life. You are amazing.
